Fort Mountain was the second to last race in the Georgia State Championship Series and probably one of the hardest of the series. The course had about 1200 ft. of climbing per 5.4 Mi. lap. Terrain was mostly double track with lots of loose rocks and such. I thought it was still a very good hard tail course, due to the lack of roots, and relatively no single track. The best part of the course was the long fast descent from the very top of the mountain, in which you drop about 500 Ft. in less than a half mile.

Most of the DA crew had great days on the bike, however, Marcus Seymour, Wayne Gowens, and myself all had flats. Marcus and I didn’t have any tubes or air with us when we flatted on the fast descent going into the start/finish area. I rode out the downhill on my squirmy flattened rear tire to the pavement section of the course where my car was parked. The promoter via bullhorn immediately announced that I couldn’t use any repair devices that I’m not already carrying on my person. I guess my race officially done, but I decided I needed the training, so I opened up my car searched for my inner tubes and Co2 cartridges and I fixed everything. The whole ordeal cost me about ten minutes, and I went back out knowing that it would not count for my race and overall points. I

As I rode on the pavement by the parked cars I met up with Marcus who also went to his car and completely switched his rear wheel. He decided to go back out as well just for the fun of it. With a little bit of fire in me from the whole ordeal I began to ride faster and ended up picking off the many riders that had passed me while at the car, except for one guy. My time with the flat would have put me in fourth place at the finish! Well, at least I got the training in and known that I could have had a strong race.

It was definitely a great day to be out at beautiful Fort Mountain State Park. Every one ended up having a wonderful time competing on the challenging course and hanging with good friends afterwards.

Wayne fixed his flat and ended up in 5th place Expert 30-39 – Great job!

Mark Johnson had a killer 3rd place podium in Sport 40-49 - Mark is on fire! Hit it while it’s hot bro!

Pete Joski the mild mannered Destroyer From Decatur popped off another big “W” for Team DA in the pro class. – Is he human!

Scott Alexander is officially back in form and struck it rich at Fort Mountain with a 4th place finish in Sport 30-39. – Only one more race to seal the deal in points for a series podium… can he do it! Hell yea!

Craig spoon picks up 10th place in Sport 30-39 – Big man’s shedding the pounds. Watch out he’s getting ready to pounce!
